The Caddo Nation Tribal Council is pleased to announce that the National Park Service has awarded an emergency supplemental historic preservation grant to the Caddo Nation Tribal Historic Preservation Department. This funding, over $700,000, will be used to help restore our Caddo historic cemeteries on Caddo allotments and tribal lands.

This is an extraordinary and exciting milestone for our Nation. Grants of this size directed toward the protection of ancestral burial grounds are rare, and this recognition from the NPS reflects the deep importance of preserving these sacred sites for present and future generations of Caddo people.

A team of Caddo Nation members is currently working on these cemeteries and graves alongside the tribe and families.

If you or a family member know of any unmarked graves, cemeteries, or known locations, please reach out, your knowledge matters.
