The Caddo Nation Child Care Department has done it again, bringing families together for another successful three-day Back-to-School Readiness event filled with school supplies, activities, and plenty of community spirit.

Over the course of the three-day event, hundreds of backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to families, helping Caddo students prepare for the approaching school year. The annual effort provides families with essential supplies while giving students an exciting and positive start as they get ready to return to the classroom.

To wrap up the event, the Child Care Department transformed downtown Anadarko into a lively block party, offering children and families an afternoon packed with activities. Despite the intense Oklahoma summer heat, there was no shortage of ways for kids to have fun and cool off. Bubble machines created clouds of magical foam for children to run and play through, while slip-and-slides and inflatable play areas provided some much-needed relief from the heat. Basketball shooting stations gave kids an opportunity to practice their skills, challenge one another, and enjoy a little friendly competition. Drink vendors helped keep attendees refreshed and hydrated throughout the day, while a steady line formed for another favorite treat...cotton candy.

The department also brought back a popular feature from last year's event: free haircuts for children heading into the new school year. Kids had the opportunity to leave with a fresh new look, with some even adding colorful hair extensions to show off when they return to school.

Music from a DJ kept the energy high throughout the celebration, but what stood out most was the sense of community. Even in the summer heat, families remained in good spirits as laughter filled downtown Anadarko. Children played together while parents, relatives, friends, and community members had an opportunity to visit, reconnect, and enjoy the afternoon together.

Events like the Back-to-School Readiness program are more than backpacks and school supplies. They are an opportunity to support Caddo families, celebrate Caddo youth, and create lasting memories as a community.

The Caddo Nation extends its appreciation to the Child Care Department and everyone who contributed their time and effort to making this year's event possible. The tremendous amount of planning and work that goes into events like this does not go unnoticed.

Year after year, the Caddo Nation Child Care Department continues to create meaningful opportunities for children and families while demonstrating its dedication to the community it serves.
